Nick and I decided to go drown a few worms up at Deer Creek. We went up towards Charleston Bridge area but the turnout parking areas were pretty swamped so we went back towards the highway and parked off the shoulder. We fished from the rocks for awhile and caught a few perch. We decided to head over to another area where we could hike down and get into one of the fingers of the lake. We spent a few hours kicking around the bank with no bites. The longer we waited the more determined we were to wait it out until we got into some trout. Finally, I told Nick we were giving it 10 more minutes and then heading out. After another 45 minutes we finally packed up and hiked out as the sun was setting. Nick doesn't love fishing but he is competitive and he was not happy getting skunked from catching any trout. We tried everything, worms, power baits, spinners, etc. We even tried the fishing dance along the shore line. I dared Nick and he dared me. Before we new it we were both hopping and dancing around on the shore laughing our butts off. On the drive home we had decided that we gave these fish a break this go around and that we would be back up there another time. Nothing is better than spending time with the family and kids. This was such a fun day. Nick, we'll get em next time.
