Back to School...again

So its that time of year.  The time of year when I lose my kids to SCHOOL!  I am usually grateful for them to go back, but this summer seemed so dang short.  The kids were excited to go back though.

This year Savannah headed off to 8th Grade and my baby is no longer a baby, he's headed off to 6th grade.  Aaaahhhh.  I am SO OLD!!  Oh well, at least my kids are keeping me hoppin.  They are busy bees, with lots of homework and lots of school activities and sports.  LOVIN IT!

Girls Camp 2011

This year’s girl’s camp was REALLY fun but REALLY Short. This year for girl’s camp we went the JR properties for three days. I liked this ward girl’s camp because it was like a relaxing girl’s camp. We didn’t have to be at crafts at a certain time or go to breakfast, lunch and dinner at a certain time.  This year we got to sleep in a tent, it was way cool. In my tent there was Me, Lacey, Chelsea, Elena, and a few others. We got to go to bed at anytime we wanted to also! Every night we stayed up and had a big fire and sang songs and just hung out. One night we went “Snipe Hunting”.  It was so funny to see the new “Bees” get scared of the Snipes. The laurels made us all put tooth paste on our faces and they said it attracts the snipes. We also said we have to make this weird sneezing noise or they won’t come out. For crafts we decorated our camp T-shirt and flip flops. The food was really good also. The first day we got to the camp there was a dear drinking out of a stream that was like on our camping spot, it was really cool. We went on a hike and it was really short (That’s OK with Me) and on the way there the JR Properties Missionaries that stay there and take care of the camp said there was a freezing hair salon so we looked for it. When we found it most of us tried it. It was a pipe with cold water running from it into this box with a drain It was COLD water! I love going to girls camp with my ward it is so fun.

Arrow of Light

Finally all the hard work, late nights, and fun, fun, fun has given Nicholas the reward he deserves.  My boy has earned his Arrow of Light and Religious Knot for Cub Scouts.  I cant believe that my baby is now a Scout instead of a Cub Scout.  He worked really, really hard on this so that he would be able to wear these awesome patches on his regular Scout Uniform.  Cub Scouts has been really really fun for all of us because for most of Nick's time in Cub Scouts, Shawn was the Cubmaster.  It was really great letting Nick help plan some of the Pack Meetings and to watch him walk around like he was the one actually in charge.  We can only hope that Scouts will be the same terrific experience (so far it has been great!!)

Temple Day

This summer the TRAX train line at Daybreak opened up.  It is the end of the line so far and it is only a hop, skip and a jump away from our house.  My good friend Julie and I decided to take the train from our house all the way downtown to go and walk around Temple Square and to have lunch with my mom who works just across the street from the temple.  It was about a 45 minute train ride with one change of trains.  The new train was really nice though.  The kids hopped on the front car that sees into the conductors area and off we went.

When we got downtown, we met my mom at the Deseret Book and headed off to lunch just a block away. We went to a food court where the kids all got to choose what they wanted to eat.  After lunch, we took a tour of my mom's office.  It was pretty cool to see where she worked.  After that, we headed over to the temple.

Julie's 3 boys were baptized just this summer and it was so fun to tour the visitors centers with them.  It's always nice to see something again through new eyes.  We visited both visitors centers, walked past the temple, looked in the tabernacle and spent a moment with the Christus, and then took a tour of the Conference center.  It was a wonderful day filled with some great spiritual moments.

Happy 11th Nick

NICK’s 11th birthday
My birthday was a blast because we went to boondocks.  Everyone had a blast.  When we got there it wasn’t packed at all. I brought Drake, Bryson, Mason, Mac, and My sister.  My Grandma and Grandpa came to.  My cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. We had pizza and sodas and I got a ton of presents. From Drake and Bryson I got a Lego spaceship.  I built it in a day. Mac got me an air soft net to catch the air soft bi-bi-bi's.  He also got me 2000 air soft bi-bi's.  Mason got me snickers bar and a 10 dollar gift card to ITunes.  Mason wrapped his in a balloon.  The first thing we did there was the bumper boats.  We all got soaked. It was awesome.  The next thing we did was the go-carts. Mason came in first the first time and I came in first the second time and Drake came in first the third time and Bryson came in first the fourth time.  Then we did Mini golf and I won.  Then we did the go-carts a few more times. Then we went inside and did games. I got so many tickets because of my friends I bought a new Jazz pennant.
