"We could've been anything that we wanted to be.
Yes, that decision is ours.
It's been decided, we're weaker divided.
Let friendship double up our powers."
This is the first line in the last song of the musical that my kids were in at school. It took up all of our November, and most of December, but it was well worth it. The musical was called "Bugsy Malone" and it was all about gangsters. Not the normal gangsters though, these were all kid gangsters, with silly string guns and pies as their weapons. My kids had a blast singing and dancing with all their friends. They were both in the Chorus. Savannah was in Fat Sam's Band and also she was a "Down and Out" and Nicholas was a customer in Fat Sam's Restaurant and also he was a "Down and Out".
I volunteered to help out with the costumes but when I got to the costume meeting, there was only me and one other mom there and so I ended up being in charge of ALL the girls costumes. Now it's not as bad as it sounds, I had most of the girls get their own costumes but I did have to do some sewing on the dancing girls costumes and some alterations on quite a few of some others. Also my good friend Julie got put in charge of all the props so we spent quite some time searching for many, many things.
My kids had so fun that they both plan on trying out for the next school play, we are hoping it will be in the spring, but if not then for sure in the fall again. Here's a bunch of pictures. And I mean a bunch... I want to make sure that they all go in my blog book and it is easier to put them in now than later when I am putting together my book. Enjoy!!!

Out with the old, In with the new.
Another year gone. A new one starting. We ended the old year with some friends and started the New Year as a family (after Shawn got back from his annual ice fishing trip with my brother Greg :)
On New Year's Eve we went over to our friends the Slessers to bring in the New Year. Our friends the Schut's were also there. We ate ALOT of food. I mean ALOT. There were Ribs, Stuffed Mushrooms (FYI: I HATE mushrooms, just ask my dad if you want the story, but I tried these because I try most everything once and they were YUMMY. Go figure, I liked these mushrooms.) We also had little smokies, potato skins, chips and dip, cheese ball and crackers and brownies and lots more. It was so good. The kids got a little crazy with the silly string and the adults enjoyed a few board games. It was a fun way to end a decade.
On New Years Day Shawn went Ice Fishing with my brother Greg while the kids and I just stayed at home in our PJ's. I have been nursing a head cold for the past week and I just want to get over it. When Shawn got home, we pulled out the leftovers and made a Yummy dinner before pulling out our new boardgame that we got from Tony and Charayne for Christmas. It is another really good one. It is called Alhambra.
It was so fun that I dreamed about it last night. Weird. Anyway, on to a New Year. Good Luck!
