"Draper Temple" take two

Tonight we spent the evening with my family going through the Draper Temple. It was really nice to go through again and seeing things with new eyes. It started out kind of hectic, Savannah had her Jr. Jazz pictures at 5:20 and we were supposed to meet my parents at their house at 4:30 but we went to pictures, missed the movie that is shown before the bus ride up to the Temple (We saw it last time so we didn't feel too bad,) and then made it just in time for the bus with my family. All 14 and 1/2 of us were there and it was a beautiful night. We had a great time together. We ended the evening at Chuck-a-Rama for dinner. It was yummy. It was the perfect choice not only because we can choose whatever we want to eat but also because Savannah got 5 teeth pulled on Thursday, and she hasn't been able to eat much. At Chuck-a-Rama she was able to get, Alfredo (her Favorite), jello (nice and soft) and ice cream (nice and cold).

Tomorrow after church we are going to go to my parents house to watch the Superbowl. I watch the commercials and halftime, but the game doesn't hold much interest. I am more of a basketball girl. The food should be good though. Till tomorrow---Love--Kathy

A Good Night

The New Draper Temple!!!

Last Night was a Good Night. You know, the kind of nights that everything seems good with the world. We went to the Open House of the Draper Temple with our Neighbors and Friends, the Slessers. The kids loved walking through the Temple, seeing new things and asking lots of questions. It was an awesome experience to be there with our kids, its almost like going through the temple for the first time again when you go with kids. The tour included a stop in the Sealing Room where they explained to us that the Sealing Room is where families are sealed to be together for time AND all eternity. They showed us the mirrors where it seems as though you go on and on forever. The kids loved looking at themselves in those mirrors. We ended the evening with dinner out. It was definitely a Good Night!!!

Star Student

Nick and the Principal, Mrs. Strauss.

Today I went to the School because Nick was chosen as a "Star Student" by his teacher Mrs. Flitton. He was honored as "Most Improved". His teacher said about him, "Nicholas has shown excellent improvement in math. He has also made improvement in taking responsibility for homework and classwork." He was given a certificate by the Vice-Principal and had a picture taken with the Principal that will be posted in front of the 3rd Grade Pod. Good Job Nicholas!!! I am so proud of you.
Nick with the Vice-Principal.
This is the pin that Nick got. It has a Dolphin for the "Daybreak Dolphins" and a star for "Star Student."

An Addiction

Ok, so here's our newest addiction(s). Board Games. The kids have gotten to an age where Board Games are now fun. They know how to play and they love to win. These are our Two New Favorites, we got them for Christmas and can't play them enough.

This is Ticket to Ride.
And this is Aquaretto.

Both are fun games for kids about age 8 and up. ****By the way, this post has taken me about an hour to write, as I am trying to get it done, Glitter and paint is being spread through the house by 10 year old girls, (see Savannah's post in a few days to see why) and the picture that has hung on the wall by the front door for the past 2 and a half years just magically fell off the wall, (thank goodness it didn't break the glass but the frame kinda came apart.) Aaaahhhh, it's good to be a mom:) Anyway, we love these new games. They are highly recommended by the Burrell Family!!!!! Love- Kathy

Do we all feel this way?

Here is a funny e-mail that my mom sent to me. I think quite a few of us feel this way in January, that's why we make the "Lose Weight" New Year's Resolution. Love Kathy

'Twas the Month After Christmas & I Ate Too Much
'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.
I said to myself, as I only can"
You can't spend all winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore,
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

A Sunday to ourselves?

So can I just tell you all how much I love 9am Church. It's easier to get up and get going and get to church at 9am than it is at 1pm. And there was very little fighting. Awesome. Church went great (as it always does,) and then we came home and had nothing planned. Absolutely nothing. It was wonderful. We watched a movie, relaxed, spent time as a family, relaxed, ate a terrific dinner, relaxed, and did I mention RELAXED? I love having a Sunday to ourselves!!! Love-Kathy
