FOREVER FRIENDS

This weekend we spent with our good friends the Tye's and the Hicks.  We have done an annual camping trip for the past 10 or so years but in the last couple of years we have become Old and Tired and have headed down to St. George instead.  This year we went to the Tye's condo.  It was a lot of fun but so so so so so hot.  We spent a lot of time in the pool.  And at splash parks.   And at the park with the river that the kids can play in.  Do you see a trend??? 

We all kept commenting on how big all the kids are, especially our oldest, Savannah, Camron and Madison.  I can't believe that they are so old.  In fact, the kids were ALL old enough to stay at home at the condo while we went out to dinner just as adults.  We have passed a milestone.  No more babies.  Even Easton the youngest of the brood is now a big kid (4). 

We did brave the hot weather to do a little hiking to "The Crack" since the Tye's had never been there.  It was fun to watch all the kids slide through the crack but it was even better to watch the guys TRY to slide through the crack.  (They didn't make it!!!)

Thanks for the fun "Campout" guys.  It was awesome.

So Softball and Baseball season has come and gone.  Savannah played softball again this year even though I tried to talk her out of it.  She seems to love it.  This was the best year by far for her team.  They ended up coming in 4th out of 12 teams.  Let me tell you how excited we were for each and every win since the last two years we haven't had ANY wins.  The "Jokers" (nice name the girls gave themselves huh??) made it to tournament and ended up winning two of their 4 games.  It was an awesome season.  Here are some pics of Savannah and Madison.

Nick got drafted to the D-backs again.  He ended up on the team with two of his buddies from last season, Noah and Aiden.  The coach was a guy in our ward who also has a son Nick's age.  It was a fun season since Nick got some pitching time.  His team also ended up in 4th place this year.  I can't believe that Nick is such a good baseball player, he definitely did not get the athletic gene from his mom.  Here are some pics of Nick and his team.  Some are better than others because I forgot my camera on the day I wanted to take pics of Nick pitching so I had to use my crappy cell phone camera.  Sorry.

Jacob Hamblin Home

Known as a missionary and friend of the Indians, Jacob Hamblin played an integral role in helping smooth relations between Indians and Mormon settlers throughout the West and in establishing the cotton mission in Southern Utah. He served as both a peacekeeper and a community builder.

OK, I copied that from the internet but it told a quick history of Jacob Hamblin so well that I just had to use it.  Ever since my parents bought their home in St. George I have wanted to visit the Jacob Hamblin home in Santa Clara, which is really close to where my parents house is.  Well, this time that we all went down for Memorial Day, we went to tour his home for our Sunday Activity.  It was really interesting.  After reading a little bit about Jacob Hamblin in the book "Undaunted" I was excited to see the home and grounds.  I got a couple of pictures of the home and I really love the one with the Sister Missionary on the front porch.  What a great mission to tell people about a church site.  Hopefully someday Shawn and I will get that great opportunity.

After visiting the Jacob Hamblin home we went on a Awesome hike to see the petroglyphs.  This was the view from the middle, I think I was too caught up in the view at the top to actually get a picture :)  That is Shawn in the picture.

Savannah had to do a project at school that was all about her.  She had to get pictures of herself that showed each year of her life.  I pulled down her scrapbooks, and let her go at it.  It took a while (isn't it always fun to look at scrapbooks, you lose sense of time when you open the cover.)
